Our school, located in a environment surrounded by the natural beauty , has now become a renowned school that has become a beacon of light for the area.
In the past, our school started as a Sunday school. 5 acres 3 rad 3 perches 7 perches were donated to the school by Dharmarakkhita Thero of Lee Kola Pitiya, who was the head of the Negro dharma at that time. Accordingly, Makulwewa Educational Institution became a school on 7.8 of 1952. It was headed by Mr.Muthugala. At the beginning of our school, one teacher took over as the teaching staff and at that time there were 3 children in the school. Then in 1953, 112 children were under the control of one teacher. Makulwewa School became a large school in 1978. At that time, our school did not have a main hall and a clay hall was established for that purpose.
This school, which was started in this way, has now become a school where 250 children are studying.Makulwewa Maha Vidyalaya has been a school that has achieved very high results since the distant past. Around 1979, Makulwewa School had a great number of outstanding students. They appeared very well in the written examination and among them one student got 8 A and 01 B.By 2006, the establishment of grade 13 in the school, at the same time, every child who passes the general examination had the opportunity to go to the university through our school.
